A journal made public by the CIA and apparently handwritten by one of Osama bin Laden's daughters offers a glimpse into how the late al-Qaida leader viewed the world around him and reveals his deep interest in the 2011 Arab Spring revolutions that were unfolding in the months before a U.S. raid killed him. He talks about Libya becoming a pathway for jihadis to Europe; of his time as a young teen visiting William Shakespeare's home in Britain; of how quickly turmoil had gripped the Middle East. The 228-page journal meanders between discussions, thoughts and reflections bin Laden shared with…

Don’t intimidate HoS, groups warn FG

Various groups and individuals on Wednesday warned the Federal Government against any attempt to intimidate the Head of Service, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita over the leaked memo on the Abdulrasheed Maina saga. Speaking on the issue, convener of the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Mr Junaid Mohammed, said the “verbal tirade” against Oyo-Ita by the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, was obviously an attempt to intimidate her into silence. He said, “This shameless act by the Chief of Staff clearly shows you how desperate this administration can get. Most of the questions we as Nigerians have been…

Fallon, 65, was first elected to Parliament in 1983 and has been defense secretary since 2014. A newspaper reported last weekend that Fallon had repeatedly touched a journalist's knee at a function in 2002. The journalist in question said…
The leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised the Vice President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, to stop discrediting the organisation in his avowed resolve to douse religious tension in Nigeria and win the heart of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. The vice president had last week said at a public function that there was no agenda to Islamise Nigeria and that no one could possibly do so, just as he berated Christian leaders for raising the alarm on the issue. Reacting, however, President of CAN, Mr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, said the vice president was talking tongue in cheeks,…
Twenty three radio and television stations across Nigeria have been fined for various breaches of broadcasting rules set by National Broadcasting Commission, NBC.
