More oil cash needed in N’Delta to avert new conflict, says minister

Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Mr Ibe Kachikwu, will visit Niger Delta this week in a bid to stave off a threat of more insurgent attacks in the area, and said that without more investment it would be a struggle to ease tensions and develop the crude oil producing region. Military deploys helicopters in N’Delta, destroys oil storage

Residents of Oporoza, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, and home town of wanted former Niger Delta militant leader, Mr Government Ekpemupolo, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, were on Tuesday thrown into panic when they saw two military helicopters hovering round the community. 26 dead Nigerian women found in Italian warship

Italian prosecutors have commenced investigations into the deaths of 26 Nigerian women whose bodies were recovered at sea. The victims, who are mostly teenagers, aged 14-18, are believed to have been sexually abused and murdered as they attempted to cross the Mediterranean.
