Akure High Court in Ondo state has quashed the suspension of four members of Ondo State House of Assembly who refused to sign the impeachment notice of the state Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi. The suspended members include Deputy Speaker, Mr Ogundeji Iroju, the only female member in the assembly, Mrs Favour Tomomowo, Mr Wale Williams, and Mr Tomide Akinribido. Russian opposition figure, Mr Alexei Navalny is unconscious in hospital suffering from suspected poisoning, his spokeswoman has said. The anti-corruption campaigner fell ill during a flight and the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk, Ms Kira Yarmysh said, adding that they suspected something had been mixed into his tea. Bayelsa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Monday nullified the election of Governor Duoye Diri. The Mohammed Sirajo-led three-man panel, ruled that the election was unlawful due to the exclusion of Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party and its candidate, Mr King George, from the November 16, 2019 governorship election. Bayelsa Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has dismissed petition by candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Mr Onwei Tongo, challenging election of Governor Duoye Diri and his deputy, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. A three-man panel of judges on Saturday held that the petitioner failed to prove the allegation of certificate falsification against Ewhrudjakpo beyond a reasonable doubt. Court of appeal in Abuja has ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enlist 22 political parties which were deregistered. In February, INEC had de-registered 74 parties for “failing to meet the criteria provided for by section 225(a) of 1999 constitution (as amended)”. Some of the parties jointly filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/444/2019, asking the court to determine whether INEC has the constitutional power to deregister them.
