Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ini Okopido, is dead. Ondo Assembly suspends another lawmaker

The only lawmaker elected on the platform of Zenith Labour Party in the Ondo House of Assembly, Mr Leonard Akinribido, has been suspended. Akinribido, representing Ondo West Constituency 1, was suspended over gross misconduct and use of vulgar words against the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun in the Chamber and on WhatsApp platform. Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed the appeal by Mr Dino Melaye, challenging election of Mr Smart Adeyemi as winner of the last election in Kogi West Senatorial District. A three-man panel of the court, led by Mr Ibrahim Saulawa, unanimously resolved all seven issues, identified for determination, against the appellant (Melaye). A former Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has defected from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), returning to his former party, All Progressives Congress (APC). Jegede wins PDP guber primary in Ondo

Former commissioner for justice and attorney-general of Ondo state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, has clinched the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the October 10 election. Governor of Ondo state, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has clinched the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the October 10 gubernatorial election. Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Monday announced sack of more than 1,000 aides for non-performance.
