Campaigns remain closed – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said campaigns for presidential and national assembly elections remain closed. INEC chairman, Mr Mahmood Yakubu, said this at a press briefing with major stakeholders on Saturday, explaining reasons for the postponement. The commission postponed the election from February 16 to February 23, citing logistics challenges. Following the postponement, there had been questions and concerns on campaigns, with many wondering if it would continue or not. Legally, campaigns are to be wrapped up 24 hours to the elections. Afenifere endorses Atiku for president

14 feared dead at Buhari’s rally in Rivers

A huge rally to push President Muhammadu Buhari’s bid for a second term ended yesterday on a tragic note in Rivers State – 14 persons died in a stampede. ACF endorses Buhari’s re-election bid

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election in Saturday’s presidential polls. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has set up a task force to monitor persons who intend to fund vote buying in the coming elections. Police Service Commission (PSC) said it would deploy 400 of its personnel to the 36 States of the federation and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to monitor conduct of policemen during Saturday elections.
