Conduct credible elections, US tells INEC

United States has called for a credible process that reflects the will of the people. US government made the call in a statement by Secretary of State, Mr Michael Pompeo, on Thursday evening. Pompeo urged Independent National Electoral Commission to resist pressure and intimidation in carrying out its duties. Supreme Court bars APC from fielding candidates in Rivers State

Supreme Court has nullified a ruling of Court of Appeal which allowed All Progressives Congress to field candidates in Rivers State in the general elections. In a decision on Friday, the court said the appellate court failed to invoke relevant sections of the law in voiding the decision of Federal High Court barring the party from participating in elections in the state. A faction of APC in the state had challenged the decision of the high court at Court of Appeal Court. INEC creates 57,023 more voting points for elections

Ahead of next Saturday’s elections, Independent National Electoral Commission has created additional 57,023 voting points to address the large number of voters which now stands at 84 million. Information obtained by our correspondent showed that the voting points would be carved out of existing 119,973 polling units nationwide. This comes barely a month after Chairman of INEC, Mr Mahmood Yakubu, said more voting units would not be created. 2019: Our position on APC participation in Rivers yet to be reviewed – INEC

It’s impossible to compromise card reader machine – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says no one can use the identification number on Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) to comprise the smart card reader machine on Election Day.
