Gunmen killed at least 43 people in an attack in Sokoto state, the governor's office said on Monday. The assault began at a weekly market in Goronyo on Sunday and continued into Monday morning, Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said in a statement. There was tension at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Living Word Parish, Basin Road, Ilorin, Kwara, when Sina Babarinde, a member of the church, was gunned down. Two students of Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa have been abducted by gunmen. The gunmen invaded the Mararaba community hosting the university Saturday evening, taking away the two undergraduates. It was gathered that one Zafir Yahaya Adams, first son of a prominent politician in the state Hahaha Adams, was also abducted. The abductors have reportedly contacted the families of their victims and demanded a ransom of N25 million. Some soldiers were feared killed Wednesday as they tried to repel an attack by bandits on travellers in Zamfara State. Witnesses said the bandits also abducted many motorists in the incident which occurred on a road leading to Gusau, between Kucheri and Wanzamai in Tsafe local government area of the state. Gunmen yesterday killed a Police Sergeant during an attack on the Divisional Police Station, Kolo, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
