Two policemen killed in gun battle with bandits in Zamfara

Police in Zamfara said an unspecified number of bandits have been gunned down while two policemen died in the exchange of gunfire. Spokesman Muhammad Shehu said yesterday that the bandits stormed Magami town in Gusau council area in large numbers with intent to attack the community. The police moved into the community and engaged the assailants, Shehu said, adding that no life was lost in the community. Gunmen kill 21 vigilantes, village head in Sokoto communities

Armed bandits killed 22 people including a village head in separate attacks on Sunday and Tuesday in Rabah and Sabon Birni local government areas of Sokoto State. The victims include 21 members of a vigilante group who were killed in Yartsakuwa village of Rabah local council during a shootout with the bandits on Sunday. Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday confirmed killing of four policemen and burning of its Divisional Police Headquarters in Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state. Bandits kill nine in fresh Zamfara attacks

At least nine persons were reported killed on Tuesday in attacks by armed bandits in Dansadau and Hanhan in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
