At least two people were killed when hoodlums blocked Gada-Biyu Highway in Jos, Plateau State capital, Tuesday night. A resident told our correspondent that two trucks were set on fire in the incident. The hoodlums were seen on rampage, assaulting passersby. Our correspondent reports the incident may be connected to the violence that occurred between herders and the people of Irigwe. Olushola Afolabi and Olugbeminiyi Aderibigbe were accused of conspiring with others to defraud the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the United States government through fraudulent unemployment insurance claims. Eighteen people, including a police officer, have been reportedly killed in attacks by bandits on five communities in Chawai chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Reports have it that the attacks occurred Monday morning in Kigom, Kikoba, Kishisho and Ungwan Magaji communities. Police Service Commission (PSC) has suspended Abba Kyari, deputy commissioner of police, following US court documents linking him to Ramon Abbas, self-confessed international fraudster better known as Hushpuppi. Usman Alkali, inspector-general of police (IGP), had recommended suspension of Kyari to allow for an independent investigation of the allegations against the officer. Hushpuppi alleged that he bribed Kyari to arrest one Vincent Chibuzo, a co-fraudster. Gunmen have reportedly killed seven persons and razed over 250 houses in some communities in Miango chiefdom of Bassa LGA of Plateau state. This was disclosed on Sunday by the Iregwe development association (IDA) in Jos, the Plateau capital.
