Boko Haram in charge, issues movement permit in Baga – Fleeing residents

Displaced residents of Baga, a border community in Borno State recently taken over by Boko Haram insurgents, said the federal government is lying in claims that the town has been reclaimed by government troops. According to multiple civilian sources, all IDPs from Baga, the insurgent are not only flying their flags in the commercial border town but are also controlling the movement of civilians in an out of the town. FG presents licences to four new private universities

National Universities Commission (NUC) on Tuesday presented provisional licences to four newly approved private universities in Nigeria. The new universities are Greenfield University, Kaduna; Dominion University, Ibadan Oyo State; Trinity University, Ogun State; and Westland University in Iwo, Osun State. NMA tasks FG over cancer control plan

Daniel Agbolade, Ibadan President of Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), Mr. Francis Faduyile, has called for urgent implementation of National Cancer Control Plan 2018-2022 by the Federal Government. Oyo to launch BESDA

Osinbajo, again, escapes death as helicopter crash lands

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo escaped death on Saturday as his helicopter crash-landed in Kogi state, his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, said. Mr Akande in a tweet said, “VP Osinbajo’s Chopper crash lands in Kabba, but he and the entire crew safe. An air charter service, Caverton Helicopter, on Saturday blamed hazy weather conditions for the helicopter crash involving Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. Onnoghen loses bid to stop CCT trial

Court of appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed a motion filed by Mr Walter Onnoghen, suspended chief justice of Nigeria, seeking stay of proceedings on his ongoing trial at Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Nigeria is still perceived as a country deep in corruption without clear policies to address the menace, Transparency International said on Tuesday.
