Buhari, again, declines assent to 5 bills

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to Senate just as he declined assent to Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2018 and four others passed by National Assembly and forwarded to him for onward signing into law between November and December last year. Mr Buhari in separate letters to Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki and dated 4th January, 2019 informed the federal lawmakers of his rejection of the bills which are Maritime Security Operations Coordinating Board (Amendment) Bill 2018 and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Bill 2018. Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Adamu Mohammed, has appointed a new spokesman for Nigeria Police Force. He is Mr Frank Mba, an Assistant Commissioner of Police. He takes over from Mr Moshood Jimoh, an acting Deputy Commissioner of Police who has been redeployed to ‘other national assignment’. Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Mr Ibrahim Isah, has died, Foreign Affairs Ministry officials, have confirmed. Sources from Nigerian Embassy at Deux Plateau, Abidjan, said Isah, aged 60, died at 7p.m. on Tuesday. Traditional ruler of Iworoko Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti, Mr Oluwafemi Adejana, is dead. The monarch died in the early hours of Wednesday, five days after losing 15 residents in an auto-crash which occurred in the town on Saturday. Adejana, who was in his 80s, died at an undisclosed hospital in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state capital. The passports were presented by Minister of Interior, Mr Abdulrahman Dambazau, and Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Mohammed Babandede. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), on Tuesday, said it would soon begin enforcement of speed limit devices installation on private vehicles. FRSC introduced the use of speed limit device in 2016 to reduce incidents of accidents and loss of lives. However, the enforcement of compliance with the installation began on Feb. 1, 2017 with articulated trucks.
