PSC approves appointment of 8 new DIGs

Police Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday approved the appointment of 8 new Deputy Inspector-General of Police, just as it announced its approval of the re-constitution of the Management Team of Nigeria Police based on zonal representation with effect from Monday, January, 28, 2019. The approval was made at PSC’s 4th Plenary Meeting held in Abuja on Monday and Tuesday, January 28th and 29th, 2019. Reps approve N30,000 as new minimum wage

Members of House of Representatives on Tuesday set the new National Minimum Wage as N30,000. They reached the decision a day after conducting a public hearing on the bill for a new national minimum wage. Lawmakers at the Tuesday plenary considered the report of the ad hoc committee that looked at the bill clause by clause. Report on the first-ever National Survey on Drug Use in Nigeria, presented by Federal Government on Tuesday in Abuja, has shown that 14.3 million people, representing approximately 14.4 per cent of the country’s population (between age 15 and 64), abused drug substances in the past one year. IGP retires seven DIGs

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Muhammed Adamu, has retired seven Deputy Inspectors General of Police who were his seniors. The DIGs got their letters of retirement Saturday evening, from the Force Secretary. Affected officers are Maigari Dikko, DIG in charge of Finance and Administration and Habila Joshak, DIG in charge of Operations. Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, has placed with immediate effect, embargo on issuance of new licences for designated arms throughout the country. Mr Frank Mba, spokesman of the force, disclosed this in statement on Sunday in Abuja.
