Workers set for nationwide strike

Nigeria’s organised labour began preparation for a nationwide strike over Federal Government delay in the implementation of a new national Minimum Wage. Mr Joe Ajaero, President, United Labour Congress (ULC) said in a communique issued after its meeting on Monday in Lagos. FRSC screens 324,000 applicants for 4,200 jobs

324,000 applicants nationwide have commenced screening exercise for 4,000 job spaces in Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Speaking yesterday during an assessment tour to the screening centres in Abuja, Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi said a total of 4,200 vacancies were available. He said 3,200 vacancies were available for Road Marshal assistants while 1,000 vacancies were available for Marshal Inspectorate cadre. Oyeyemi said applicants would go through different levels of screening exercise ranging from credentials, aptitude test to be conducted by Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), interview screening and drug test. National Assembly postpones resumption

Nigeria’s National Assembly has postponed its resumption. The parliament will now resume on October 9 instead of September 25 earlier slated. The postponement was contained in a statement by the National Assembly clerk, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, addressed to the lawmakers. “This is to inform all Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 25th September has been postponed to Tuesday 9th October due to primaries of the political parties. “All Distinguished Senators and Honourable members are expected to resume plenary session by 10 am on the 9th of October, please,” the statement reads. FRSC releases recruitment screening time-table

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has released its nationwide recruitment screening timetable for applicants who applied for the corps’ recruitment into the different cadres. The corps public education officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, made the screening timetable available to reporters on Saturday in Abuja. FRSC scheduled its screening and physical fitness assessment on recruitment from September 24 to 29.
