State House, Budget Office, 306 others spent N149bn illegally – AGF

Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine, has queried 308 Ministries, Department and Agencies of government over extra-budgetary spending of N149.5bn in 2016. This is contained in 2016 annual report of Auditor-General for the Federation obtained by our correspondent on Sunday in Abuja. The 2016 audit report is the latest to be prepared by OAGF for all MDAs. The report was submitted to the National Assembly in June through a letter to Clerk of National Assembly, with reference C/AR.2016/CONF/VOL.1/01. Fashola spending taxpayers’ funds on misguided projects – Discos

Confrontation between power distribution companies and Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, continued on Sunday, with Discos firing back at the minister, accusing him of spending taxpayers’ money on misguided projects. Fire engulfs Jos market, razes 217 shops — Official

Fire has engulfed a segment of Jos Terminus Market in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State with 217 shops burnt. Properties worth millions of naira were also lost. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, who visited the market confirmed the incident to reporters in Jos. FAAC: Finally, FG, states, LGs share N668.8bn

After weeks of horse-trading over revenue under-payment by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the three tiers of government have finally received the sum of N668.8bn as allocation for May 2018. FAAC deadlock unresolved as govs insist on ‘no sharing’

Governors of the 36 states of the federation insisted, Wednesday night, that the deadlock at Federation Accounts and Allocation Committee, FAAC, meetings will continue until Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, remits what is due to government coffers. The governors also said NNPC should not continue to spend money meant for the Federation Account without approval of the President and National Economic Council, NEC. Ex-IGP Ibrahim Coomassie is dead

Former Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Coomasie, is dead. He was aged 76. His death was confirmed by Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, who said he died at about 7pm on Thursday at Orthopaedic Hospital, Katsina. Coomassie, Sardauna of Katsina, was the 9th Inspector General of Police. He served under late General Sani Abacha and General Abdulsalami Abubakar administrations. Jonathan in closed-door meeting with IBB
