Govs meet to discuss FAAC deadlock, other matters

Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Wednesday night met in Abuja to discuss Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) deadlock, minimum wage, among others. The June meeting of FAAC in Abuja ended in a deadlock. FAAC monthly meeting is the forum where money is shared among the federal, states and local governments. FG lied on power generation capacity - Discos

The 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) in Nigeria’s electricity market Tuesday accused the federal government of lying on its claims of improvement in power generation in the country, stressing that generation capacity as at January 2015 was 6,421 megawatts (MW) and not 4,000MW as often claimed by the government. Nigeria Air: Nigerians react to new national carrier

Mixed reactions on Wednesday trailed unveiling of the name and logo of proposed new national carrier by Minister of State for Aviation, Mr Hadi Sirika. Sirika had unveiled the name of the new carrier as “Nigeria Air’’ with a logo encompassing the flowing green, white and green ribbon at Farnborough Air Show in London. Ex-CJN Katsina-Alu dies at 76

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Mr Aloysius Katsina-Alu, died yesterday at the age of 76 in an Abuja hospital after a brief illness. Katsina-Alu, born on August 28, 1941 in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, was Nigeria’s CJN from December 2009 to August 2011. He had his primary education at the RCM Primary School, Aduku; St. Ann’s Primary School, Turungwa and St. Patrick`s Primary School, Taraku, before proceeding to Mount St. Michael’s Secondary School, Aliade. Oyo to host launch of UN SDGs Yoruba translation

Buhari rejects four bills passed by National Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected four bills recently passed by National Assembly. The bills are Corporate Manslaughter Bill, 2018; National Child Protection and Enforcement Agency (NCPEA) Bill, 2018; Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund Amendment Bill, 2018; and Courts and Tribunal Standard Scale of Fines Bill, 2018. Claims that foreigners are involved in killings not true - French envoy

Nigerian judiciary to enforce yesterday’s email deadline

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mr Walter Onnoghen, has restated his earlier directive for lawyers and judges to ensure the use of electronic emailing system for transfer of information from July 16. President Muhammadu Buhari has launched Abuja metro rail line. Mr Buhari launched the line Thursday Morning at the new metro station in Central Business District (CBD), Abuja. After the launch, the president and other dignitaries and journalists took a ride from the CBD metro station to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
