The main opposition party also asked President of the Senate, Mr Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, to make public their assets to convince Nigerians that they were indeed partners in the fight against corruption. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that “the reckless dismissal” of the alarming spate of kidnapping in the country by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has further confirmed that All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has no iota of concern towards the pain and suffering of Nigerians. The party noted in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, that attempting to play down the kidnapping menace as not being “as massive as that,” Osinbajo clearly demonstrated that APC and its government are not connected with the people but only pretends towards them during electioneering. According to PDP, “In…

On a balcony overlooking Casablanca's rooftops, a man draws on his cigarette and thinks about the dream that was snatched away. Saleh al-Mansouri is only in his twenties but knows what it's like to cross the sea to Europe. He lived in Germany for several years until his bid for asylum was rejected and he was forced to go home to Morocco. "People go there for…

Several officials who said they were deployed as electoral officers by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for 2019 presidential election said they transmitted results electronically to a ‘central server’ through smart card readers. This they said was done in compliance with the directive given by the commission during a three-day training before the polls. The 20 officials deployed to various states, who mostly worked as presiding officers, said they were told that there was a “central server in Abuja” where results are collated electronically. It is not immediately clear on which “central Server” the officials admitted to transmitting results but…

Ajimobi made the remarks over the weekend at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, venue of a luncheon held in his honour by Ibadan Elders’ Forum, in commemoration of the ‘meritorious two-term service in Oyo State’. The event held under…
