Theresa May steps down as Tory leader, to resign as prime minister

Theresa May has said she will quit as Conservative leader on 7 June, paving the way for a contest to decide a new prime minister. In an emotional statement in Downing St, she said she had "done my best" to honour the 2016 EU referendum result. It would remain a matter of "deep regret" that she had been unable to deliver Brexit, she added. FG plotting to frame me up for instigating violence - Atiku

Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday raised the alarm over alleged plan by some people to cause crisis in parts of the country and accuse him of being responsible for the skirmishes. PDP, Atiku triumph as Bulkachuwa is forced out of presidential poll tribunal

President of Court of Appeal, Mrs Zainab Bulkachuwa, on Wednesday withdrew as a member of Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. Makinde accuses Ajimobi of mischief in restoring full subventions to Oyo tertiary institutions

Oyo State Governor-elect, Mr Seyi Makinde, has accused Governor Abiola Ajimobi of mischief as the government announced it had restored full monthly subventions to all the state-owned tertiary institutions.
