Mr Ango Abdullahi, former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is leader of Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF). He speaks with Sunday Sun on the controversial, but now suspended RUGA settlement programme of President Mohammadu Buhari-led government, the corruption crusade, among other national issues. Excerpts: What is your view on the RUGA controversy, although it’s suspended, most Nigerians are still complaining, why? The only reason we are having this noise, the hullabaloo about the livestock industry in this country, is because everything has been very badly politicized, there is no rational discussion; there is no investigation about the various aspects…

Nigeria’s main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, said it was full of incompetent and failed men. PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said Buhari’s ministerial list was colourless, stagnant, uninspiring and did not convey any sense of hope or purposeful governance. Ologbondiyan said to the utter disappointment of Nigerians, the list was replete with incompetent individuals who failed in their erstwhile ministerial assignments and allegedly left their ministries in shambles.

Boris Johnson, Britain’s blustering Brexit campaigner, was chosen as the U.K.‘s next prime minister on Tuesday, with a resounding mandate from the Conservative Party but conflicting demands from a politically divided country. A five-man panel of the court, led by Mr Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, in a ruling, struck out the application marked: SC/377/2019 filed by APC, seeking a review of the judgment. Rhodes-Vivour in his lead judgment held that the application was incompetent, time barred and the court has no jurisdiction in the matter. “If all the necessary documents that are supposed to have been brought are not…

Immediate past national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr John Odigie-Oyegun, has again chided his successor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, over his alleged role in the protracted crisis in Edo State. In a statement issued by his Public Affairs Adviser, Mr Ray Morphy, Oyegun wondered why Oshiomhole has failed to realise that Governor Godwin Obaseki should be supported as the only APC governor in the South-South zone rather than vilify and destabilise his administration. In his reaction, Oshiomhole said though he did not want to join issues with his predecessor, he would have preferred him to address him directly. In…
