Jonathan leads ex-leaders of West African countries to visit leading presidential candidates

Goodluck Jonathan and John Mahama, former presidents of Nigeria and Ghana, respectively, on Monday, led delegates from the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) on a visit to four presidential candidates in Nigeria. ECOWAS files damning report on INEC failures, BVAS

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says the delay in providing logistics and failure of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) affected the efficiency of the election process in Nigeria. AU releases preliminary report on elections, speaks on BVAS

The African Union election observation mission (AUEOM) has released its preliminary report on the conduct of the presidential and national assembly elections in Nigeria. In the report released on Monday, the mission expressed concern over the late commencement of voting in 83 percent of the polling units it monitored. “The average delay was over an hour. PDP, LP, others accuse INEC of collusion with APC to rig elections, walk out of collation centre, Abuja

Agents of major opposition parties at the national collation centre in Abuja walked out of the venue in protest at the exercise. Dino Melaye and Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP had accused INEC of violating the Electoral Act by going ahead with the result collation and announcement despite not uploading the results on the iREV portal. Thugs attack Igbo traders in Lagos markets after Tinubu’s defeat

Armed thugs on Monday invaded some markets in Lagos, attacking Igbo traders in the process. Markets allegedly invaded include Ladipo auto parts market, Balogun and Ebute-Ero on the Lagos Island and Mainland.
