1,000 Nigerian Christians killed by terrorists in 2019 –Reports

A new report on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria has found that about 1,000 adherents of the Christian faith have been killed by Islamic militants in 2019 alone. Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART), headed by a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness Cox, discovered that believers in the North and Central region of Nigeria were the most severely affected. 22 ex-govs under probe, on trial – AGF

About 22 former governors are either on trial or facing investigations over corruption allegations, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, has said. Malami, who spoke at a meeting with journalists at his office in Abuja on Thursday, did not name the affected former governors. Nigeria's ex-attorney general held by EFCC over $1.3 billion oil deal

Nigeria’s former attorney general was detained by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) upon his return home on Thursday, the commission said in a statement, as part of an investigation into one of the oil industry’s biggest suspected corruption scandals. Mr Mohammed Adoke was arrested by Interpol in November after travelling to Dubai for a medical appointment. He voluntarily flew back to the West African country on Thursday, his lawyer said. One million guns, others circulating in Nigeria - NSA

Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) stated yesterday that of the 857 million Small and Light Weapons (SALW) in circulation globally and the 12 billion rounds of ammunition produced annually, 10 million are estimated to be in Africa with one million of them circulating in Nigeria. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Saturday began marking for seizure properties belonging to jailed former governor of Abia State, Mr Orji Kalu. According to a statement issued by the agency’s spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the action came following an order by a Lagos Division of the Federal High Court to wound up assets belonging to Mr Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Ltd. Police in Ebonyi have said they had uncovered a new strategy used by criminals to rob bank customers. The command’s spokesperson, Loveth Odah, made this known in Abakaliki on Thursday.
