FG supports Reps’ move to raise teachers’ retirement age to 65 - Minister

Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu, on Thursday said federal government was in support of raising retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65 years. The minister made this known at a public hearing on the need to insulate teachers from the retirement age for public servants organised by House Joint Committee on Basic Education and Public Service. Senate passes bill to establish South East Devt Commission

A bill to establish South East Development Commission was passed by Senate on Wednesday. The passage of the bill sponsored by Mr Samuel Anyanwu, followed several debates on the report of Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service. FG low on cash as weak economy hits revenue targets - Bloomberg

Nigeria’s third-quarter growth figures, announced on Monday, showed the economy is still struggling, if the latest fiscal figures are anything to go by. Africa’s biggest oil producer raised N682 billion ($1.9 billion) of revenue in October, barely 60 percent of the average monthly estimate in 2018 budget. Buhari’s minister resigns to become emir

Minister of State for Environment, Mr Ibrahim Jibrin, has resigned from the federal cabinet. His resignation follows his selection as 12th emir of Nasarawa in his native Nasarawa State. Nigerians spend N1trn annually on foreign education — Ex-VC

Pro Chancellor, Crawford University, Igbesa, Mr Oye Ibidapo-Obe, on Wednesday said that Nigerians were spending a whooping N1 trillion annually to pursue university education abroad. Polytechnic lecturers begin indefinite strike

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Wednesday began an indefinite strike over non-implementation of 2009 and 2017 agreements reached with the union by the federal government. The polytechnic lecturers have joined their university colleagues who have been on strike since November 4. Police Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday said it had received 104,289 applications from Nigerians who want employment into the Nigeria Police Force as Constables. Buhari constitutes committee on autonomy of state legislature, judiciary
