FG slashes cost of JAMB, NECO exams

Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has approved a cut in the cost of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) application forms from N5,000 to N3,500; from January 2019. Government also announced reduction of fees for Senior Secondary Certificate handled by National Examination Council (NECO) from 11,350 to N9,850 and Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO, from N5,500 to N4,000. Civil servant hangs self in Ekiti

A 59-year-old employee of Ekiti State Civil Service, Mr Bolarinwa Olaoye, has allegedly committed suicide within the premises of the state secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. Anambra State Government has adopted the December 28 date set by major traditional rulers in South-east to abolish the controversial Osu caste system. Osu caste system is an ancient practice in Igboland that discourages social interaction and marriage with a group of persons called Osu outcast. Presidency has reacted to media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari cancelled a planned casual leave to Daura, his hometown, explaining that what was cancelled was a private visit.
