Drivers plan to disrupt traffic across France on Saturday by blocking roads, bridges and toll booths in a mass protest at rising fuel prices. Dubbed the "yellow vests" after the high-visibility jackets they use as their symbol, they are expected to muster in at least 700 locations. Strike action: ASUU, FG meeting deadlocked

Federal Government on Thursday opened negotiations with Academic Staff Union of Universities at Ministry of Labour and Employment office in Abuja over the universities lecturers’ strike since November 5. The meeting, which began at 3pm and lasted till 9pm, was adjourned till next week, as the striking teachers and government did not reach a middle ground. A probe by Senate into whether state oil firm NNPC improperly withdrew money has expanded with the amount under investigation doubling to over $2.2 billion, a committee said on Wednesday.
