Foremost rights group, Amnesty International, has condemned the killing of dozens of Shiite protesters by the Nigerian Army. Soldiers killed the Shiites in protests in and around Abuja between Saturday and Tuesday. Killings not solution to poverty - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has told Kaduna residents that killing each other can never be a solution to poverty and inequality, and appealed for lawful conduct at all times. Governors have announced that states can only afford to raise national minimum wage from N18,000 to N22,500 as against N30,000 being demanded by organised labour. Governors said this after an emergency meeting of Nigeria Governors’ Forum in Abuja late on Tuesday. Power generation in the country plunged to 2,390.20 megawatts on Monday as number of idle power plants rose from seven to 15, according to latest data from Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
