All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee for the Edo governorship primary has disqualified the governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki. Independent candidates who are not affiliated to any political party can stand in national and provincial elections, South Africa's highest court has ruled. The court case that started in the Western Cape High Court was brought by lobby group New Nation Movement and others. A federal high court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the deregistration of 32 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court, in a judgment delivered on Thursday, dismissed the suit filed by the parties against INEC on the grounds that they failed to prove their case.
