Wike mocks Oshiomhole, says Obaseki ‘disqualified by someone who doesn’t have certificate’

Less than 24 hours after governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, met him in Port Harcourt, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that Obaseki was disqualified by someone who does not have a “certificate.” “Obaseki was disqualified by someone who doesn’t have a certificate, what an irony!” Wike tweeted on Monday afternoon from his personal Twitter handle @GovWike. Obaseki was on Friday disqualified by APC from contesting the forthcoming governorship primary of the party in Edo State on grounds of alleged discrepancies on his certificates. Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki today visited his Rivers state counterpart Nyesom Wike, at the government house in Port Harcourt. Court tells Burundi's president-elect to take power after death of former leader

Burundi’s constitutional court has agreed that president-elect, Mr Evariste Ndayishimiye should be sworn in immediately after the death of former leader Pierre Nkurunziza, the government said on Friday. APC panel disqualifies Obaseki from gov primary election

All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee for the Edo governorship primary has disqualified the governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki. South African court okays independent candidates for elections

Independent candidates who are not affiliated to any political party can stand in national and provincial elections, South Africa's highest court has ruled. The court case that started in the Western Cape High Court was brought by lobby group New Nation Movement and others. INEC is right in de-registering 74 political parties - Court

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the deregistration of 32 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court, in a judgment delivered on Thursday, dismissed the suit filed by the parties against INEC on the grounds that they failed to prove their case.
