Tinubu files suit to prevent INEC from succumbing to LP, PDP’s pressure to cancel poll results

All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, have filed a suit to restrain the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from stopping the collation of the presidential election results. The suit marked FHC/KN/CS/43/2023 was filed before the federal high court in Kano. Jonathan leads ex-leaders of West African countries to visit leading presidential candidates

ECOWAS files damning report on INEC failures, BVAS

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says the delay in providing logistics and failure of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) affected the efficiency of the election process in Nigeria. The African Union election observation mission (AUEOM) has released its preliminary report on the conduct of the presidential and national assembly elections in Nigeria. In the report released on Monday, the mission expressed concern over the late commencement of voting in 83 percent of the polling units it monitored. “The average delay was over an hour. Agents of major opposition parties at the national collation centre in Abuja walked out of the venue in protest at the exercise. Dino Melaye and Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP had accused INEC of violating the Electoral Act by going ahead with the result collation and announcement despite not uploading the results on the iREV portal.
